On April 17, 1893, Alpha Xi Delta was founded at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois. Founders' Day is a wonderful time for us to reflect on the values of Alpha Xi Delta and honor our Sisterhood.
Virtual Founders' Day
Alpha Xi Delta highly encourages you to celebrate Alpha Xi Delta’s Founders’ Day in a virtual setting. There are new virtual Founders’ Day guides for both collegiate chapters and alumnae associations located in Exclusively Xi's Resource Center in the Digital Ceremonies folder. These guides provide information on ceremony equipment, facilitation, platform information and much more.
Order of the Rose, Pearl and Diamond
For alumnae associations wishing to include the Order of the Rose, Pearl and Diamond ceremony in their celebrations, information is included in the Founders’ Day guide. If your association has the funding to buy a pin for the member, this can be a great sentimental gift. You can purchase recognition jewelry from Herff Jones by clicking here.
If you have any questions, please contact our National Ritual Director, Grace Bova, at email@example.com.
Founders' Day Ecards
The Alpha Xi Delta Foundation has a special opportunity for you to send an ecard to a Sister in honor of Founders’ Day. Even though it is recommended we do not physically gather together, we can still honor the legacy of our Founders and their vision of a community community where women feel supported and loved by one another.
Marketing Your Event
- Submit your event to the Alpha Xi Delta calendar. This way all alumnae know about your event! Click here to register your event.
- Invitations should be sent to alumnae six weeks prior to the event. Invitations can be sent out via email and/or USPS. The Save the Date and Invitation templates below can be printed or attached to an email as a PDF or image in the body of the email. It is best practice to send event invitations from the association’s general email account. If your association utilizes social media, share the invitation there as well.
- Request a new geographical listing from Fraternity Headquarters. This ensures that you are reaching all alumnae in your area, especially those who might have just moved in! This is a great way to connect with new alumnae and engage members.
- After your event don't forget to submit information for The Quill! Submit stories by emailing your photo and the caption to firstname.lastname@example.org.
