Susan's Story

In the middle of the 1960's, it was not considered "popular" to join a fraternal organization on my campus. Deciding to go through recruitment regardless of the stereotypes, I met some amazing young women, many with the same concerns. The Alpha Xi reception was interesting because of the music offered by talented musicians. My decision to join was life changing and introduced me to the concept of Sisterhood that gave me friends for life. These Alpha Xi Sisters have been friends for life and will be attending my son's wedding this April. They saw me through my trips to Spain, my our adventures with my husband as Spanish languageTV newscasters, CoDirectors of the Miami Latin Film Festival, and provided support for me as I continued my career in Higher Education Administration as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Now retired, my sisters and I can relive our youth together and plan trips for the future!
