Carol's Story

I joined the Gamma Nu Chapter in the fall of 1960 after rush. I was so excited to be in a group that was energetic and fun. As our pledge class was forming, I was elected Chapter President by girls I didn't know very well. I was shocked and delighted, but had no leadership experience.

It was wonderful to help our pledge class learn and be initiated that next February. I learned so much from being in the sorority - etiquette, leadership skills, and providing experiences that were helping others. In my senior year I was elected President and through that learned more leadership skills that has served me the rest of my life as an elementary and middle school teacher. We made some mistakes over the years, but we learned life lessons through those mistakes. College was a special time, and I remain friends with many of my Sisters who live in the St. Louis area. Congratulations to Alpha Xi Delta for 125 years of helping young women become who they can be!
