Preparing for Our Inaugural National Day of Service

On November 15, National Philanthropy Day, Alpha Xi Deltas across the country will harness the collective power of our Sisterhood for our inaugural National Day of Service!

Our members are being called in to create meaningful and tangible service opportunities to support key and local impact organizations that focus on serving children and teens impacted by foster care or homelessness. Learn more about Day of Service here.

In preparation for Alpha Xi Delta’s first-ever National Day of Service on November 15, 2025, National Council came together during a recent board meeting to make a tangible impact on supporting youth experiencing foster care or homelessness by assembling period packs.

National Council gathered menstrual products, hygiene wipes, hand sanitizer, new underwear and disposable bags to create individual kits that offer dignity and care. These packs will be distributed to organizations serving youth in need.

This initiative reflects Alpha Xi Delta’s belief that simple acts of service can create meaningful change. By coming together for a shared cause, we’re inspiring women to realize their potential by extending compassion to others.

How to Assemble Your Own Period Packs

You can take part in this effort by creating period packs with your chapter, alumnae association or on your own. Here’s how to get started:

Materials Needed:

  • Menstrual products: pads, tampons, or liners (choose a variety to meet different needs)

  • Hygiene wipes: individually wrapped for convenience

  • Hand sanitizer: small travel-size bottles

  • New underwear: packaged and in various sizes

  • Disposable bags: gallon-sized zipper bags or small drawstring pouches

Assembly Steps:

  1. Lay out all your materials on a clean surface.

  2. Place 5–10 pads or tampons, 1–2 hygiene wipes, and 1 hand sanitizer into each bag.

  3. Add one pair of new underwear (choose a neutral size and style).

  4. Seal the bag and label it by size (if applicable).

  5. Deliver your completed packs to a local organization that supports youth in foster care, homeless shelters or women’s resource centers.
