Alpha Xi Delta

Alpha Xi Delta's Founders believed our members should think less about self and more about others. Our Fraternity has fulfilled this noble tradition during its 116-year history by giving service to education, wartime efforts, respiratory health and to improving the lives of children.

From our support of schools in need to our dedication to the Save the Children Federation, Alpha Xi Delta has long expressed a commitment to child-focused issues. In the 1990s, the Fraternity adopted Choose Children as its philanthropic focus. Not an organization but an idea, Choose Children allowed Alpha Xi Delta college chapters and alumnae associations to select and support a child-related cause in their community. By devoting ourselves to child-focused efforts both national and local in scope, Alpha Xi Deltas have for many years immensely impacted the lives of our youngest citizens.

With mounting evidence on the importance of early childhood diagnosis of autism and the critical importance of early intervention, Alpha Xi Delta recognized the potential power of applying our grassroots support to national efforts in this area. In 2009, Alpha Xi Delta announced a partnership with Autism Speaks, the nation's leading autism advocacy organization, channeling our philanthropic efforts and providing a common goal for every Alpha Xi Delta college chapter and alumnae association. Although still in its infancy, this exciting alliance between Alpha Xi Delta and Autism Speaks has increased the visibility of Alpha Xi Delta's volunteerism and focus nationwide, and has combined the powerful devotion of our Sisters to others with the prestige of this national organization. Already, we are experiencing great enthusiasm and involvement by our members in this partnership.
