Alpha Xi Delta Announces New Philanthropic Focus

Published: May 03, 2022

Indianapolis, IN – Alpha Xi Delta is excited to share a new philanthropic focus. Beginning in the fall 2022 academic semester, Alpha Xi Delta chapters and associations will direct philanthropy efforts toward supporting children and youth experiencing foster care or homelessness.

This decision comes after a year-long project by Alpha Xi Delta’s Philanthropy Task Force that was formed to take a strategic look at the Fraternity’s national philanthropic focus, and to make recommendations to National Council about next steps. The task force gathered ideas, collected feedback via surveys from members, researched potential partnerships and evaluated the success and engagement with the Kindly Hearts Campaign. Time and again, Alpha Xi Delta heard from members that they want to volunteer locally and make a positive impact in their communities. Feedback provided by our members via surveys was overwhelming supportive of service in the area of underserved children and youth.

This focus will be known as The Kindly Hearts Initiative and will serve as the umbrella to our philanthropic focus on supporting children experience foster care or homelessness. Alpha Xi Delta chapters and associations will have the opportunity to support key impact organizations making a national or regional difference under the umbrella of our focus as well as the option to collaborate with local impact organizations that support children experiencing foster care or homelessness. The Fraternity will not have a formal philanthropic partnership with one organization.

“With more than 400,000 children currently placed in foster care and an estimated 4.2 million youth experiencing homelessness, we feel this is an important area to direct our philanthropy efforts, said Becky Perrett, Alpha Xi Delta National President. “As Alpha Xi Deltas, we have the collective power of our Sisterhood to help make a difference, and we look forward to seeing the impact our members can make in their communities.”

Founded in 1893 at Lombard College in Galesburg Illinois, Alpha Xi Delta inspires women to realize their potential by providing opportunities for Sisterhood, leadership knowledge and service. The national women’s fraternity has more than 162,000 initiated members and chapters on 128 college campuses.
