Founders' Day Ecards
The Alpha Xi Delta Foundation has a special opportunity for you to send an ecard to a Sister in honor of Founders’ Day. Even though we can’t physically be together due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we can still honor the legacy of our Founders and their vision of a community community where women feel supported and loved by one another.

Virtual Founders’ Day Ceremony Quick Start Guide
Given the unique circumstances we are in as we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognize that many alumnae associations’ Founders’ Day plans may not look the same as they have in past. Founders’ Day is an opportunity for us to reflect on our common values and experiences in Alpha Xi Delta and allows us time to recommit ourselves to our Sisterhood. In these trying times, we believe this is all the more reason to give opportunities to reconnect and be in community with each other (albeit virtually). For Founders’ Day 2020, we have made an exception to our standards on how Founders’ Day Ceremonies are performed and are offering one of our Founders’ Day ceremonies to be done virtually.
Please note that this is a unique circumstance and should not be in practice other than for 2020. If you have any questions feel free to contact our National Ritual Director, Grace Bova at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How can I access the Founders’ Day ceremony?
The ceremony is available to leadership of alumnae associations in Exclusively Xi's Resource Center in the “Digital Ceremonies” folder. If your alumnae association is interested in performing a Founders’ Day ceremony, please fill out this form below that will notify the National Ritual Director and Fraternity Headquarters of your interest. Prior to facilitating a Virtual Founders’ Day Ceremony, you will need to attend an online training and/or have an individual consultation with the National Ritual Director. The National Ritual Director will reach out to you directly after the interest form has been completed.
- If you would like to recognize an Order of the Rose, Pearl or Diamond honoree, please check the appropriate box when filling out the form.
- The Virtual Founders’ Day Ceremony exception is for the performance of Founders’ Day Ceremony Option One, without the addition of the Rededication Ceremony.
What ceremony equipment should I use?
Please do not utilize any of the Ritual/ceremony equipment, even if you have them readily on-hand. As the ceremony instructs to “light a candle” please just ask all participants to envision the candles being lit in their mind’s eye. While our Ritual equipment is certainly important in our ceremonies, for the use of a virtual ceremony in this unique situation, an exception is being made to have no ceremony equipment in use.
The Founders’ Day Ceremony Option One has two narrators. One Sister may read both parts, or if technology allows, two Sisters may perform the ceremony. In either case, the expectation will be that those performing the ceremony practice beforehand to mitigate any technological difficulties and to be sure they are comfortable enough with the ceremony to perform it confidently.
Please note: We do not want any Sisters traveling to perform the ceremony together. We expect all Sisters to follow social-distancing and stay at home guidelines.
If you decide to utilize Zoom, please note that if you are using the free version, there are a number of things we recommend doing to make the session secure. This video is an easy tutorial on Zoom meeting security: Zoom 101: Securing your Meetings & Virtual Classrooms.
- Require a meeting password.
- Mute participants upon entry.
- Enable a waiting room to select the participants you would like to attend the “meeting” and to start the meeting.
- Only allow the “host” to share their screen.
