You can call the Talk One-2-One 1-800 number, day or night, and speak to a professionally-trained counselor to tackle problems through support, advocacy and empowerment.

The phone number is 1-800-756-3124. Below is a list of all, but not limited to, their counselors can assist you with:

  • Anxiety
  • Roommate conflicts
  • Chapter conflicts
  • Eating Disorders
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Financial Issues
  • Alcohol/Drug issues
  • If you’re searching for local resources
  • If you’re searching for a local counselor
  • Searching for support/resources for yourself as you support a Sister or friend is struggling or in crisis

We also recommend seeking out your university's counseling center for help. You can usually find the center's contact information by searching on your university's website, a Google search or through a university directory.

Articles and Additional Resources

With the reality of chapter functions needing to be virtual in this time of social distancing due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have been considering the experiences of our members and ways to keep the bonds of Sisterhood strong during this time. Below are some suggested activities to help guide you.

Social Distancing Sisterhood Ideas
  • Have Sisters who have a cool talent go "live" or Skype and do a tutorial. For example, a cooking class tutorial or a canvas painting from home tutorial. This would also be a great virtual Sisterhood where you could break the chapter up into smaller groups based on the “talent” they want to learn.

  • Post a prompting question in the chapter wide GroupMe or on OmegaOne every day such as: "What's something great that has happened to you today?"

  • Have the Sisterhood Director DM a new Sister each week and ask her five facts about herself. Then the Sisterhood Director shares five facts about a "random” Sister and the first person to correctly guess which Sister it is wins a prize in the fall.

  • Pair up rose buddies for FaceTime/Snapchat buddies.

  • Share a link to a free online workout class that everyone can do and then send a selfie after they did it.
  • Social Distancing Outfit of The Day (SDOOTD): Create a GroupMe where everyone sends the funny outfits they're wearing at home (Example: Professional top, but pajama bottoms).

  • Have a Netflix Party

  • Have a pet show and tell with Sisters.

  • Skincare face masks on FaceTime Sisterhood event!

  • “Hot seat”: Choose one (or multiple Sisters) on video chat and have everyone send in the chat (or say out loud) something they love and appreciate about the Sisters.

  • Formal fashion show: Did you or a Sister already buy their formal dress that they can’t return? Show it off on FaceTime or take a cute picture in it and post in a photo circle album.

  • Is there a Sister who is a yoga instructor or other type of fitness instructor? Ask her to teach a class to the rest of the chapter over Zoom or Google hangout.

Senior Recognition

We recognize that the expectations of how senior year would end are not the same and it may be hard to come to terms with the cancelling of formals, senior weeks and commencement. With that in mind, we have created a quick start toolkit from which to build your chapter’s virtual “Senior Week.” Here you will find:

  • A list of recommendations for virtual and social distancing activities to incorporate.
  • An example “week” with activities listed that you can use or mix and match from other listed activities.
  • Senior Ceremony Considerations.
Recommended Activities List for Senior Recognition

Below you will see a variety of activities you can utilize to create your own senior week. Please note that some of these activities will require planning several weeks ahead in order for everything to come together! Make sure to send out any surveys, order things well in advance so they arrive to your seniors in time and any letters written are mailed appropriately so they do not arrive late!

  • Have seniors share their favorite campus tradition, place on campus, favorite Alpha Xi Delta moment. Use our Instagram template for this here.

  • Host a virtual Sisterhood! Ideas include:
    • Create or do a TikTok dance challenge.
    • Host a Bingo/trivia game/competition you find online or create your own to spend time with your seniors.
    • Movie night together via Netflix Party or another platform.
    • Create live! Watch a painting video together, learn to hand letter, or find other virtual classes to create something together!

  • Letter writing campaign: Organize Sisters to write letters or short notes to send to Seniors to fill their mailbox with snail mail!

  • Have Littles do something special for their senior Bigs on social media. Shout out on their social media, share a favorite memory, how the senior inspired them “realize their potential”.

  • Utilize the Senior Week frame and Instagram templates (available on @alphaxidelta IG highlights and here).

  • Host a virtual “Senior Send-Off.” Honor your seniors with a video gathering!

  • Send seniors a bouquet of pink roses.

  • Donate in honor of your senior to response funds, their local needs networks, their local food pantry, Autism Speaks etc. and announce it on social media!

  • “Zoom check-in” where graduating members can have a chance to share their memories and favorite experiences with their chapters.

  • Have a “memory day” on social media where Sisters can share their favorite photo taken each month of the year.
  • Guess that senior? Seniors submit random facts to the Sisterhood Director and she shares it out for Sisters to guess via poll on InstaStories or another platform.

  • Have seniors fill out a “my favorite things” survey focused on businesses local to them. E.g. Their favorite restaurant, favorite hair salon, favorite bookstore, etc. If Sisters (whether that’s Littles, Sisters volunteer, a “Secret Sister”, etc.) want to get a small gift for a senior, they can get an e-gift card to these local places that are unique and personal to the Sister and support local businesses during this time!

  • Seniors share what they believe their “legacy” is in the chapter, a list of “must-do’s” for younger chapter members, or their hopes/dreams for the chapter’s future. Use our Instagram fill in template found here.

  • Have seniors create a virtual “memory board” collage of their favorite Alpha Xi Delta memories and share on social media.

  • Share your Senior capstone project! If your seniors had senior recitals planned, were presenting final research or another end of the year project, give them some time to still share this with the world! Post stories on your social media or host a virtual to showcase everyone!

  • Have a “wear your badge day” or “wear your letters” and have everyone post it with a senior week hashtag. For example: #AlphaAlphaSeniorWeek

  • Assign each Sister a section of The Symphony (or The Sisterhood of Women for larger graduating classes). Ask them to send a video of them reciting their section and put it on your chapters Instagram stories (in the correct order) to create a montage.
Example Senior Week:

Below you will find an example of what a virtual Senior Week could look like. Under each day you will see an option for if you want each day to have a theme, and an option for a non-themed activity. We recommend only doing one activity per day. When planning the timing of your Senior Week, consider holding it during the month of May.

Please note that some of these activities will require planning several weeks ahead in order for everything to come together! Make sure to send out any surveys, order things well in advance so they arrive to your seniors in time and any letters written are mailed appropriately so they do not arrive late!
