A 2012 Founders' Day Message

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Dear Sisters,

April 17 brings to mind ten young women who left us a great legacy. Cora Bollinger Block, Alice Bartlett Bruner, Almira Lowry Cheney, Frances Elisabeth Cheney, Bertha Cook Evans, Eliza Curtis Everton, Julia Maude Foster, Lucy W. Gilmer, Harriet Louella McCollum and Lewie Strong Taylor taught us to support one another as only women can, to serve others and to aim high to realize our potential. 119 years later Alpha Xi Delta is still bringing into living reality the vision of these bold, talented women.

As we embark on Alpha Xi Delta’s 119th year of Sisterhood, I encourage you to reflect on your place in our dear Fraternity and the personal responsibility we have as Sisters to continue to grow, inspire and make bold moves to enrich our Sisterhood.

How will you make Alpha Xi Delta’s 119th year her best? Will you make the time to lend your talents as a volunteer? Or, will you share your treasures to make a donation to the Alpha Xi Delta Foundation?

When describing our Sisterhood the words true, genuine and bold come to mind to describe the incredible friendship that is our Sisterhood. Alpha Xi Delta is a source of inspiration for talented women who aim high to realize their potential. Whatever thoughts or words come to your mind, I know our Founders would be proud of the bold, talented women who shape our organization and the amazing success we have had since 1893.

As we observe Founders’ Day this year, let’s reflect on the tireless efforts and dedication of the Sisters who came before us. I know we all take great pride in Alpha Xi Delta’s rich history. I hope that today you take time not only to reflect upon our history but to consider your place in Alpha Xi Delta and how you can help further our vision of inspiring women to realize their potential. Feel free to use the Twitter hashtag #axid119 to let us know how you are celebrating this year's Founders' Day and how Alpha Xi Delta has inspired you to realize your potential!

Fraternally,

Sandi Edwards
National President
