While April 17 is a day of celebration for every Alpha Xi Delta, it is an extra special day for some of our chapters. Did you know Founders’ Day is actually a date for many chapter birthdays? In addition to the Alpha Chapter at Lombard College, five other chapters were also founded on April 17.
The Beta Mu Chapter was founded on April 17, 1943 at Bowling Green State University, making it the second Alpha Xi Delta Chapter to be founded on Founders’ Day.

The next chapter to be founded on Founders’ Day was Zeta Eta. This chapter was founded on April 17, 1971 at West Chester University.
Iota Gamma was then added to the Founders’ Day installation list when the chapter was installed on April 17, 1999 at Rockhurst University.

The fourth chapter to be installed on April 17 was the Iota Mu Chapter. The Iota Mu Chapter installation took place in 2005 at Lycoming College.
The most recent chapter to be installed on Founders’ Day is the Iota Pi Chapter. The installation took place on April 17, 2011 at Coastal Carolina University.

While these chapters share April 17 as a chapter founding date, many other chapters were installed during Founders’ Day celebrations on the days leading up to or following April 17. Happy birthday to all of the chapters celebrating this Founders’ Day! Don’t forget to send pictures to lfisher@alphaxidelta.org.
